Sustainable Packaging to Reduce Food Waste Program - 26 Feb and 22-23 July 2020

Food South Australia, the Australian Institute of Packaging, the Fight Food Waste CRC and Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL) are partnering to present a two part program designed to help you understand what you need to do to reduce your food and packaging waste – and get your food or beverage business ready to meet the National Packaging Targets by 2025.

This introductory workshop includes a tour of the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA) Material Recovery Facility and a half day workshop with packaging experts. Explore the complexities and challenges of moving to sustainable packaging to reduce food waste and let our experts help you develop solutions that are sustainable for both the environment and your business.

Attendees will meet at Gum Oval, Waite Campus at 7.15am to board the tour bus. The bus will depart at 7.30am to visit the NAWMA facility and return to Plant Research Centre at Waite for the afternoon workshop.

When: Wednesday 26 February 2020 7.15am – 4.00pm
Location: Gum Oval, via Entry 1, The University of Adelaide – Waite Campus, Waite Road, Urrbrae

You must wear long sleeves, long pants and closed in shoes for the facility site tour.

Putting Your Plans Into Action Workshop

22-23 July 2020

The second stage of the program includes a follow up workshop designed to facilitate discussion among participating businesses to identify common gaps, challenges and opportunities for collaboration. This workshop includes time for one-on-one consultations plus an optional site visit to your business by expert packaging consultants. Following this workshop you will also have exclusive access to the Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL) portal, the Food Matrix, to get your specific sustainable packaging questions answered by the experts.

When: Workshop on Wednesday 22 July 2020. Site Visit on Thursday 23 July 2020.
Workshop Location: Meetings Rooms 1 and 2, Plant Research Centre, The University of Adelaide Waite Campus, 2B Hartley Grove, Urrbrae SA 5064

Matrix portal access will be available following the workshop until 30 November 2020.

Food South Australia Member Cost: $110 (Stage 1 Only) or $260 (Stage 1 and 2)
Non Food South Australia Member Cost: $140 (Stage 1 Only) or $320 (Stage 1 and 2)

Cost includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
